Terry James Laster, Sr., 55 passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 27, 2010.  He was born May 23, 1954 in Lorain, OH and had been a resident of Akron, OH since 1993.

Terry, Sr. graduated from Lorain High School in 1972.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1973, retiring a 20 year full honor veteran in 1993.  He was currently employed at the United States Postal Services aka “The Mail Man” in Akron, OH.

In his free time, Terry enjoyed sports and was a Los Angeles Lakers fan.  He liked playing pool, visiting casinos, spending time with his family and especially the grandkids.

Terry was preceded in death by both parents, James Blackman and Viola (Ellis) Laster; 2 brothers, Ray O. Cheers, Sr. and Kevin Blackman; a sister, Loretta (Cheers) Smith.

Terry, Sr. will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jennifer (Knight) Laster; sons, Charles Starks, Terry Laster, Jr., Rochester and Kyler Hargrove, all of Akron, OH.; daughter, Terrisha Laster of Akron, OH.; 5 grandchildren, step-mother, Mrs. Eloise Blackman; sisters, Judy (James) Adkisson, Nettie (Mitchell) Rollison-Thomas, Cheryl (Lennie) Harris, all of Lorain, OH.; sister-in-law, Patricia Knight of Akron, OH.; brothers, James (Donna) Martin, Larry, Timmy & Keith Blackman, all of Lorain, OH.; brothers-in-law, Larry (Crystal) Knight, Thomas & Kevin Knight, all of Akron, OH.; a special sister-in-law, Mrs. Resna (Epps) Cheers, and a host of many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH  44307, Rev. Ron Goodman, officiating.  Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.  Condolences may be sent to 4703 Riverside Dr., Lorain, OH or 790 Davies Ave. Akron, OH  44306.
