On May 16, 2010, Deacon Roland Johnson went home to be with the Lord. He was born to the late James and Sadie Johnson on December 25, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Thomas Edison High School and joined the U.S. Army after graduation. He was stationed and served in Cleveland, OH. Shortly after moving to Akron, OH, Roland joined New Trinity Baptist Church where he was later ordained as a deacon. In 2001, he married Janice Todd, who became his devoted wife for the past nine years. His love of family and friends as well as his joy for cooking and fun was reflected at every family and church function. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Minister Janice Johnson; siblings, James (Carolyn) Johnson, Rev. Lamont Johnson; children, Miesha Johnson, Wayne (Aretha) Booze, James Booze; stepchildren, Victor (Elizabeth) Eaves, Valerie Eaves; 14 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, special friends, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at New Trinity Baptist Church, 1380 Hartford Ave., Akron, OH 44320, Rev. Lamont Johnson eulogizing and Rev. Samuel Johnson officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at 1385 Brandon Ave., Akron, OH 44305 and 3680 E. 147th St., Cleveland, OH 44120. Condolences may be sent to 1385 Brandon Ave.
