Mary Loraine Smith, aka “Ma Dukes”, 45, was born November 6, 1964 to Belinda and Nelson Smith in Akron, OH.  Mary was a lifetime resident of Akron and attended Akron Public Schools.  She was also her parents’ only child. 

Mary was a very caring and loving mother, friend, and grandmother.  She enjoyed cooking, catering, shooting pool and playing cards, but most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren and being with friends and family. 

On Thursday, June 17, 2010, Mary departed this world unexpectedly.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Belinda Smith.  

Mary leaves to cherish her memory father, Nelson (Charlene) Smith; 5 children – son, Brandon (Marquerite) Smith; daughters, Kristal Smith, Jasmine Smith, Alaura Smith and Misty Mitchem; 15 grandchildren; “Grandma Carolyn”; special friend, Tracey Franklin; lifelong companion, Benjamin Carter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
