Maezella “Mae” Tipton affectionately called “Sister” made her transition into the gates of Heaven on Tuesday June 29, 2010. She was born in Parkin, Arkansas on August 27, 1931. She was a graduate of Akron South High School, attended the University of Akron and was a member of the Order of the Sisters of Eastern Star. A lifelong member of Mount Haven Missionary Baptist Church , she served the Usher Board, Women’s Day Committee; Auxiliary Board and numerous other community service committees. Preceded in death by loving husband, Joe; mother, Gracie (Ferrell) Carruthers; and fathers , Preston Tipton and Detroy Carruthers, Sr.; brothers, Floyd Tipton and Detroy Carruthers Jr. She is survived by loving and devoted daughter, Belinda (Mark) Duncan; granddaughters, Jennifer (Keith) Holliday; and Jessica Duncan; brother Roy (Sarah) Carruthers; sisters, Maetroy (William) Veal, Dixie Wilson, and Joydie (Earl) Kidd.
