L. D. Dampier (D-Boy), 71, went home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born August 27, 1938 in Pinola, MS.  He was a resident of Akron, OH for 60 years.  He was employed at Atlantic Foundry for 25 years until they closed.  Shortly afterward, he worked at Barberton Iron Steel for 7 years.

L.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Plaze and Lola Dampier; sisters, Irene Weary and Alma Dixon; brothers, L.V., L.W., Sheldon, Lonnie and Clyde Dampier, all of Akron, OH.; daughters, Janice Sewell-Dampier and Angela Dampier.  He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Curtiscine Dampier; daughter, Annette (Tim) Fannin; sons, Larry (Tony), Jerry and Donald (Wanda) Dampier; 4 grandchildren, Ricco, Shalamar, Paul and Brittany; 7 great grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH  44307.   Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery.  Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of service.  Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 928 Lane St., Akron, OH  44307
