Mother Jewell Overstreet ascended to be with the Lord on Thursday May 6, 2010.  She was born November 28, 1922 in Clayburn, Alabama, to the late Toy and Marrion Little.

Mother Overstreet confessed Christ at an early age.  During her young adult years she was a pillar of the community through her teachings of millinery and sewing courses at South High School as well as other locations. She was the First Lady of the Good Hope Baptist Church, Akron Ohio under the pastorate of her late husband, Rev. Silas Overstreet.  Additionally, she served as a devoted and loving member of several churches during her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband. She leaves to mourn her passing sons, Cecil (Linda) Little, Jerry Virden, both of Akron, Ohio, Willie Edward (Dorothy) Virden of Louisville, Kentucky; stepson, Roosevelt Overstreet of Akron, Ohio. She was blessed with many grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters,  Elmer Dale Baker of Newell Alabama, Kathleen Ervin of Anniston Alabama, Ella Mae Cooley and Frances Little of Akron, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.  

The grace and beauty of her life will continue to leave a lasting impact upon all those who knew and loved her.
