Jesse “Tex” Washington, Jr. left this earthly life on June 30, 2010. He was born May 26, 1924 in Dallas, TX to the late Jesse Washington, Sr. and Millie Holmes. He moved to Akron, OH in 1945. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #1594 Pride of Rubber Town (45 years). Jesse “Tex” was a Veteran of World War II in the Medic Department, and was honorably discharged. He worked for the City of Akron for over 25 years and then was last employed at Sears. In his free time he loved to golf. He was a socialite in the community and was loved by many. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Washington; a sister and brother; daughter, Betty Armstead; son-in-law, Billy Armstead; great-grandson, Gary Bolar; and niece, Sherrie Spears. He leaves to cherish him memory his loving grandchildren, Vickie (John) Boudreaux, Larry and Gary Armstead, and Tracy Armstead; devoted granddaughters, Lisa Little and Toni Armstead; eight great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren; devoted friend, Jo Ann Anderson; god-son, John Henry McCree.
