Hollis Selassie Palmer passed away suddenly May 16, 2010. He was born August 22, 1936 to the late Eula C. Palmer and Seffie Lee (Lampley) Palmer in Clayton, AL. Hollis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years followed by 8 years in the United States Navy. He was employed by Summit County for over 28 years as a tree surgeon and lumberjack. He was an accomplished bowler, an avid fisherman who loved to have family fishing tournaments. He was devoted to the East Akron Pee Wee Football program, where he felt children were a priority. He attended Greater Faith Apostolic Church and made God and family above all his priority. He was a kind, wise and gentle man who cared deeply for those he knew and will always be remembered for his ability to make everyone laugh. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Amy Chapman Palmer; children, Timothy Selassie Palmer, Adam Hollis Palmer, Aaron Hollis-Selassie Palmer, Daniel Hollis Eula C. Ray Palmer, Holly Yvonne Louise Palmer, Ronnie Cannon, Robin Givens, Carla Palmer, Marie Palmer, Kimberly Zook; and Hollis Phillip Palmer (deceased); grandchildren, as well as multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed and remembered. Services will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307. Pastor James Tolbert eulogizing and Rev. Clarence McGuire remarks. Interment Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
