*A time to be born:

Herman was born in Kissimmee, FL. To Rosa Lee Tilley and Herman Brown, Sr. on March 2, 1929. 

*A time to learn:

Herman attended Kissimmee High School. 

*A time to love:

He met his first and only love, Althea Plair in the summer of 1945; they married on July 17, 1948. 

*A time to work:

Herman worked as a truck driver in the fruit industry.  He later moved to Akron, OH. Where he found work in the construction field for over 40 years, until he retired. 

*A time to serve God:

He joined Bethel A.M.E. at an early age and attended until he moved to Akron, OH., where he joined the Prince of Peace Baptist Church; becoming a deacon under the pastorate of the late Rev. John Milton Burrell — date of admission August 17, 1958.  He was active in the brotherhood where he was treasurer and president of the choir. He also was a protempore deacon from April, 1959 to January, 1965, when he was ordained as one of the youngest deacons of the church.  Herman enjoyed fishing, grilling barbecue and, most of all, spending time with his family. 

*A time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance. 

On June 9, 2010, our Heavenly Father saw fit to call one of his angels home.  He leaves to cherish his loving memories, wife of 62 years, Mrs. Althea Brown.  He also leaves daughters, Marie (Larry) Goodson of Grand Rapids, MI., Eleanor Bradford of Akron, OH. and Fayetta (Travis) Martin of Killeen, TX; sons, Lee E. Brown of Kissimmee, FL and Herman Brown III of Houston, TX; sisters, Luberta (Jimmy) Adams of Grand Rapids, MI, Rosemary Holt of Kissimmee, FL, Harvietta (John) Phillips of Atlanta, GA and Virdess (Roosevelt) Word of Montgomery, AL; brothers, Cleven Brown of Columbus, OH, Emory (Jessie) Brown of Melbourne, FL and Jesse Lee Brown of Kissimmee, FL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ralph and Phyllis Lewis of Lee, FL; grandchildren, Jason Bradford, Clavon Bradford of Akron, OH., Eric Goodson, Dionne Chivis of Grand Rapids, MI., Travis Martin, Jr. of Killeen, TX., Donte, Antwon, Dierre, Rakeem of Kissimmee, FL., Sonja Brown of Chicago, IL., Markieth Brown of Fort Wyne, IN., Andrea Taylor of White Plains, NY and Sydney Jackson of Houston, TX; 21 great grandchildren;  a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
