Essie Mae Singleton Gallimore of Akron, OH passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Visiting Nurses Services Hospice on March 2, 2010.

 Essie was born in Leesburg, GA., March 28, 1921 to Ned and Jimmie Lee Johnson, deceased.

 She was a long time member of The Thornton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Akron, OH.

 Her passion was sharing her Bible based faith with others.  She was a full time minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  She loved to cook and feed people.

 She was preceded in death by husband, Artis Gallimore; infant son, Wayne Singleton; sisters, Gertha W. Curry and Mary Sherman; and brothers, Ira and Henry Johnson.

 She leaves to treasure her memory, son, Watson Singleton Jr. (Eileen); daughters, Betty Chapman (Harry) and Joan Pierce (Jeffrey); brother, Ned Johnson Jr. (Marie); sister, Ethel Ware; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

 She will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.

 

 Services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307.  Friends may call at the chapel from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.Procession will form at 1001 Whittier Ave. and condolences may be sent to 1757 Sheffield Akron, OH 44320
