Carolyn Annette (Rucker) Hill mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and niece was called home to her eternal rest unexpectedly late Wednesday afternoon May 19, 2010, at Summa Health System.

She was born in Caruthersville, Missouri on July 4, 1951 and resided in Akron, Ohio her entire life.  Carolyn accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized into membership at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church; later joining Higher Ground Worship Center. After graduating from Central High School Carolyn worked for GO-JO Industries, U.S. Postal Service and later O’Neil’s Department Store, until the untimely onset of her illness caused her to retire at an early age.  In early October 2002, Carolyn received the gift of life, a liver transplant at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Carolyn enjoyed watching television and her favorite soap opera was “TheYoung and The Restless”.  She enjoyed playing cards with her favorite uncle(s) “Craig Griffin” and William (Toot) Almond, as well as her mini shopping trips (one of her favorite stores was Henry’s Acme).  She was also a “wonderful cook” and gave us the secret recipe to her chicken and dressing!!  Anyone who knew Carolyn knows she was a lover of “Eddy’s Ice Cream!”  Carolyn enjoyed babysitting for her nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren. She loved her telephone conversations, which typically we could say were “marathons” since her illness kept her homebound most of the time.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother Dora Smith-Hollingsworth and stepfather Floyd Smith, grandparent’s Wiley and Lorine Anderson; daughter(s) Pamela D. Rucker, Tiffany L. Greene, brother(s)  Bernard C. Rucker and Anthony Xavier T. Smith, aunt  Ada L. Anderson, niece Deana Griffin. She leaves to cherish her memory loving daughter Aliah Yolanda Rucker, brothers, Bruce (Brendy) Smith, Kevin Smith, granddaughter, Ashley Rucker and grandson Tommy Davis, three great-grandchildren, Jamaryon Frazier, Jaliayah Short and Darrin Jenkins: aunt(s) Earlean (William) Almond, Mae (Peter) Harwell, Cleveland, OH; Gloria Jean Roper, Milwaukee, WS; Janet Nickoless, Freeport, NY; Dorothy Anderson, Brenda (Craig) Griffin, Margarett (Greg) Blackmon, Anita Wilkson, uncle Wiley Dwayne Anderson, all of Akron OH; cousins, Craig Griffin, New York, NY; Leon (Kristina) Anderson, Seattle, WA; Marcus Anderson, Connecticut; Angela Almond, Cleveland, OH; Anthony Anderson, Davone (Eric) McCants, Shannon (Larry) Williams, Lamont (Simone) Blackmon, Telia Anderson, Danielle (Carlton) Ellis, (twins) Christopher and Craig Johnstone, Evelyn Lee all of Akron, OH. Carolyn also leaves to mourn her passing numerous friends & family members including Vanessa Jackson (friends since kindergarden) Huber Hill, Henry Lee and devoted caregiver Genise Colvin.
